Fishing rod is a long, flexible rod with which fishing line is attached and at the end of the fishing line is a hook for catching the fish. It can also be described as a tool to catch fish and it varies in action as well as length, and can be found in sizes between 24 inches and 20 feet. Fishing rods are commonly made of fiberglass, carbon fiber or, classically, bamboo and are also referred as poles. |

Discussed below are various types of fishing rods:
Carbon fiber pole: These rods are used for coarse fishing and are made with the combination of various carbon fibers. These poles allow very precise positioning of bait, which benefits in catching fish and are available in varying length from 3 meters to the longest at about 18.5 meters.
Fly rods: These rods are designed to cast artificial fly which consists of a hook tied with fur, feathers, foam, or other lightweight material and are thin and flexible. Initially these rods were made up of yew, green hart and split bamboo but now-a-days are constructed from fiberglass, carbon/graphite or graphite/baron composites.
Sea rods: Designed to be used with very heavy equipment, these rods are long (around 4 meter), extremely thick and feature huge and heavy tips, eyes, and handles. The most common type of sea rods are for beach casting. Others are for use with a boat.
Spin Casting and Bait Casting rods: Very similar to bait casting rods, these rods are designed to hold a spin casting reel, which are normally mounted above the handle. Spin casting rods also have small eyes and a forefinger grip trigger. |
